BUSINESS LIBRARY CARDS



    Salem Businesses and Salem Non-Profit Organizations which own or rent office space in Salem are eligible for a Business Library Card.

    To apply for participation in this service, the owner or manager of the business or organization writes a letter on company letterhead. In it, the owner or manager :

     1. requests either one or two Business Library Cards (please specify)

     2. agrees to be the person who is financially responsible for all materials borrowed on the card(s)

    Either the owner/manager or a representative may bring the letter to the library and fill out a library card application form with the name, address, and telephone number of the business, and the names of the owner/manager and the person who fills out the form. The Business Library Card(s) will be issued in the name of the business and will be accompanied by a letter explaining the guidelines for use of the card(s):

    1. Any person presenting a Business Library Card may borrow materials at the library. If a card is lost or stolen, it must be reported to the library immediately so that the card can be invalidated to prevent unauthorized use.

    2. The owner/manager is responsible for all materials borrowed with the card, including any unpaid overdue fines or charges for lost or damaged items. It is in the best interest of the owner/manager to keep track of who within the organization has been given the card. Any notices regarding overdue items, etc., will be sent to the owner/manager at the business address.

    3. Business Library Cards are valid for the calendar year in which they are issued. To renew, the owner or manager prepares a new letter on company letterhead, requesting renewal of the account and agreeing to be the party financially responsible. The account must be in good standing (any overdue items or outstanding charges must be resolved) before the library card(s) are renewed.
